Botswana National Archives and Records Services (BNARS)  receives and responds to general enquiries pertaining to collection (archival materials) such as books, files, audio tapes, videos and micro films from anyone who intends to do a research.

Internet Services at Public Libraries

Overview

This service makes provision for free access to internet services in almost all public libraries, save for those awaiting installation of internet services. Library users are able to surf the internet and access information for both business and personal use. Each individual is allowed to use the internet in 30 minute intervals.

Fill in a log sheet issued by library staff.

National Internship Program

Overview

The program offers unemployed citizen graduates a chance to develop work skills and experience that will support them in the transition from school-life/academia to the working environment through attachments in various organisations in Botswana. Placement is done for a maximum period of two (2) years by the Department of National Service and Internship which matches the applicant’s credentials to available job profiles requested by host organisations. Selection is done on a first come basis by considering the available vacancy, qualification and place of service.

 

Who is eligible?

College or university graduate citizens under the age of thirty five(35)

How do I get this service?
  • Complete and submit the National Service and Internship Application Form with supporting documents at any National Internship Office or Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture (MYSC) District Offices
  • Receive acknowledgement letter with a reference number for future enquiries
  • The applicant will receive a telephone call once placement is secured by the Department of National Service and Internship
  • Graduates express intention to enroll through an Application Form 
  • Government departments, Parastatals, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO)s and CBOs express intention to enroll graduates through a Request Form
  • Graduate participants can transfer once after three (3) months by filling a Transfer Form
  • Graduate participants are eligible for monthly allowance by submitting a Confirmation Form
  • Graduate participants can choose to exit the programme before end of two years for various reasons by filling an Exit Form.
  • Graduate participants can opt for reinstatement by filling a Reinstatement Form
  • Graduate participants' performance is monitored through a Workplan Form

National Archives - Educational Tour

Overview

The Botswana National Archives and Records Services (BNARS) facilitates guided educational tours of the National Archives to students of all levels (primary, secondary and tertiary) and the public.

Download, complete and submit the BNARS Educational or Institutional Tour Booking Form at least 2 weeks prior to tour to BNARS HQ through email, fax or call.

National Appeals Board

Overview

This board supports athletes who have grievances that need to be addressed. It follows procedures of addressing grievances when a member of Botswana National Sport Council has been aggrieved by decisions of the Council as per Botswana National Sport Council Act CA 60:01. The grievances that (National Appeals Board) NAB addresses emanates from rulings made by Disciplinary Committees of the various National Sport Associations.

The National Appeals Board is an independent board and is composed of four persons whom the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development has identified to be capable of adjudicating sport appeals. National Appeals Board is housed in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport & Culture Development. The National Appeals Board acts as the higher tribunal court for Sport issues in Botswana and primarily reviews or hears the appeals before them in a fair manner in line with the existing sport codes and association legislations.

Implementation process:

  • Appellant shall also serve all concerned parties with the same documents of the appeal.
  • Once the appeal has been scheduled all concerned parties are notified in writing.
  • The appellant and respondent are allowed to be represented by two representatives.
  • Where the appeal is not complex the NAB Chairperson will announce the ruling at conclusion of presentation by all parties involved.
  • A written judgment will be then delivered at a date to be communicated to concerned parties.
Who is eligible?

All athletes.

How do I get this service?
  • All appeals shall be made in writing and submitted to the Secretary of the National Appeals Board housed in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport & Culture Development.
  • All appeals should be submitted within seven (7) working days after receipt of the Disciplinary Committee ruling.
  • Appeals should be accompanied by a fee of BWP 50.00

Overview

This service allows citizens and non-citizens access to public libraries so that they may borrow books from all libraries across Botswana.

How do I get this service?

To obtain an “Adult membership”;

To obtain an “Children’s membership”

  • Parent/Guardian must fill in an application form.
  • Parent/Guardian has to sign to consent to his/ her child’s application.
  • Submit the application form to the nearest library.

Library membership expires after two (2) years

  • Citizens:  a copy of a certicified National Identity Card (Omang)
  • Non-Citizens: a certified copy of Passport
