Overview

Any naturalised or registered citizen may register their  child (under 18 years) as a minor child of a citizen of Botswana. 

 

Who is eligible?
  • The applicant must be a Motswana and must have a minor child under 18 years old 
  •  The unbridged Birth Certificate must clearly indicate the name of the naturalised or registered parent (The names must match those in the Identity document) 
  •  The Minor child  must be registered before the age of eighteen (18) years old.
How do I get this service?

In order to access this service, applicants must complete the following steps.

  • Completed Form E 
  •  After processing the applicant will be notified of the outcome of the application 

    The applicant will be issued with a certificate

     

What supporting documents are required?
  • Complete Form E
  • Two passport sized photographs.
  • Certified copy of adoption certificate/ court order for endorsement  after the age of 18 years
  • Proof of parents' citizenship status e.g. ( certified copy of  National Identity card (Omang), Citizenship Certificate or Passport)
  • Certified copy of  child's unbridged Birth Certificate
  • Police report forms for children over sixteen(16) years old.
  • Certified copy of parents' Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
  • Certified copy of a valid Residence Permit.  
  • Certified copy  of a minor child passport
